Blog posts and articles regarding the Roman Catholic Church are posted here. However, at times we may discuss other faiths such as Islam or have an adult or youth bible study. If you have any questions about Roman Catholicism or Roman Catholic beliefs, feel free to ask and I will be delighted to provide you with answers from Tradition, the Roman Catholic Bible (Catholicism Bible), or the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church.

I wanted to challenge myself to come up with 100 reasons why I am Catholic. This morning I quickly jotted down the first three. I hope you enjoy them.
A quick disclaimer: I absolutely do not have an issue with anyone attending a Christian Church other then the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is both human and divine. The humanity of the church has the ability to hurt, shame, scare, anger, and much more. I certainly can empathize with anyone who has left the church due to the human nature of the church itself. However, it is the divinity of the Church that stands tall in all it’s glory and beauty. For over 2000 years, it has stood as a beacon of light, offering truth in it’s most purest form. That is why I remain a part of what I believe to be the true church and continue to be an awe of it every moment of my life.
1) Using Reason: More than 97% of the world believes in a God of good. A third of those believers are Christian. More than half of those Christians are Catholic. Catholics make up 1/5 of the world’s population and exceeds 1 billion in membership. In other words, among all of humanity, there is a draw to Christianity, especially Catholicism. In present time, all roads certainly do seem to lead to Rome.
2) The Reformation: Yes, believe it or not, this is a major reason to be Catholic. The Reformation was like a nuclear bomb going off in what was the one, holy, universal and apostolic church. When the dust cleared, the Church was somehow still standing. Any war, issue, internal crisis, here is an organization that continues to exist. I believe this has to be divine intervention and I can only come to one conclusion that this must be a church that God is protecting. As I visit many Christian (non-Catholic) churches, I find many pieces of the Catholic Church that are extremely attractive to me. But why would I want a pieces when they I have the whole thing?
3) True Worship: I like a really good movie. I love to be moved and my emotions stirred up. I like good music, music that I can sing to and dance to. I love a good party where I can be with friends and family. However, while some of these things for some could be worship. In my humble opinion, it is not true worship of the God of the Universe. All the things I mentioned above are all about me. It seems very selfish to me to go to a church where all I am the focus, where I am concerned about what am I going to get out of this or going to some place to “get fed”. Personally, from a worship perspective, I am not my God. The Holy Catholic Mass is the only worship that I have experienced where I am able to empty “myself” out, consume God in Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity and do it all while He is consuming me as well. That is simply awesome.
Well, that is 3 which means I have 97 more to go. Keep checking back and see how my progress is going. Thank you for reading.
God bless,
Chris Gordon
